Silkroad IRI

Rector’s Welcome Message

“Silk Road” International Research Institute  part of the “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage began its activities in March 2024 as Uzbekistan's leading research center specializing in the study, preservation, and promotion of the history of civilizations and the material cultural heritage of Silk Road countries.

The main areas of research at the Institute include theoretical and practical studies in architecture and urban planning of historical cities, the study of traditional restoration practices, and contemporary issues of monument preservation, conservation, and museification of architectural and archaeological sites. The Institute uses modern innovative methods for studying, graphic reconstruction, and restoration of historical landmarks.

Renowned and emerging scholars at the Institute take their mission seriously — preserving and popularizing the traditional cultural heritage of the Silk Road countries, particularly the historical cities of Uzbekistan, one of the cradles of ancient and medieval civilizations.

Dear staff of the Institute, international and local experts, researchers, and scholars collaborating with us! Your knowledge, skills, experience, and passion for research are vital and contribute significantly to achieving excellent results in the future. Your studies can make an important contribution to preserving the cultural heritage of Uzbekistan and other Silk Road countries, and our joint efforts will lead us to new heights!

I would like to express my sincere gratitude for your dedicated participation in this noble cause!

Rector of the “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage Kholmukhamedov Mukhsinjon Murodullaevich
