The “Silk Road” International Research Institute and colleagues from Southeast University (Nanjing, China) celebrated the International Day for Monuments and Sites through field research

Every year on April 18, the world celebrates the International Day for Monuments and Sites (World Heritage Day). In Uzbekistan, this is a professional holiday for architectural restorers who study and preserve the country's architectural heritage. The Silk Road Research Institute marked this day by conducting fieldwork at historical sites in Samarkand.

A group of specialists from the aforementioned Southeast University also took part in the research. Laser scanning and architectural monument surveys were carried out using total stations and drones to obtain photogrammetry images. Another team from the Institute conducted research on the Oliya Arch at Amir Temur's fortress, discussing their findings with the leadership of the Y. Gulyamov Samarkand Archaeological Institute, whose staff had excavated several trial pits at the site.
