Staff of the "Silk Road" International Research Institute and colleagues from Southeast University (Nanjing, China) participated in an international conference dedicated to the International Day for Monuments and Sites

On April 18–19, the majestic and historic Registan Square hosted an international scientific and technical conference titled “Perspectives on World Architecture: Harmony and Proportion in Architecture.”

As part of the celebrations, specialists from the “Silk Road” International Research Institute and colleagues from Southeast University took part in the conference, beautifully organized by the Samarkand State Institute of Architecture and Construction to mark the significant occasion. Welcoming speeches were delivered by Prof. M.A. Yusupova, Director of the “Silk Road” International Research Institute, and Chinese Prof. Jiang Hong (Vice Dean of the School of Architecture). Presentations were given by Chinese colleagues Prof. Li Xinjian (Deputy Director of the Key Laboratory of Urban and Architectural Heritage Conservation) and Prof. Li Yonghui (Key Laboratory of Urban and Architectural Heritage Conservation).

Remarkably, the opening and plenary session of the conference took place in the jamoatkhana—the great hall of the medieval university, the architectural monument of the 15th century, Ulugh Beg Madrasah on Registan Square.

Many thanks to the leadership of SamSUAC and the organizers for the invitation to the plenary session and for arranging such a memorable professional celebration! After the conference, the leadership of the “Silk Road” IRI and scholars from Southeast University continued discussions on future collaboration.
